For me, singing is a form of expression that is visceral, cathartic, and joyful.  Every time someone sings a song, they are bringing their own unique identity to it, and that individuality should be celebrated and preserved. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to use their voice to express themselves in this way, and I believe everyone can, given the right tools and training. My approach to teaching voice is something of a holistic approach--I use techniques from both contemporary and classical pedagogy to help you make the sound you want to make.

Overall, in lessons, we will primarily address issues with tension, registration, breath support, alignment, and expression. In my teaching, I use a combination of imagery, technical concepts, movement, and attention to dramatic intent. We will also touch on vocal health and maintenance. Each student has a different way of learning and I adjust my lessons to fit the individual student. Over the course of our lessons, I will help you build a book of repertoire that you can look back on and be confident and proud of every time you perform.

In addition to helping you develop your voice, one of my focuses in my undergraduate degree was composition. I am happy to help you with any part of songwriting and composition. I am also able to help you with preparation for auditions and applications, as well as assist you with overcoming performance anxiety.

I love singing, it brings me joy and fulfillment, and I love that my job gives me the opportunity to help people experience that as well.
